CS:GO has almost ten years of history. The history of CS tournaments dates back to CS 1.6. Many tournaments were held every year where teams became legends and earned thousands of dollars.

DreamHack Winter 2013
It was one of the first tournaments that were held on a new game that had just been released. It was a “hot” November for the Swedish city of Jönköping. The best teams met for the first time in fierce battles. This tournament set the bar for the following Majors not only in terms of organization but also in terms of prize money and prestige. And that’s not surprising, because the volume of the CS:GO market in the US already reaches 5.7 million dollars. The world’s top two teams faced off in the semifinals, the team from the USA advanced to the final, and underdogs Fnatic defeated fan favorites Ninjas in Pajamas.
ESL One: Cologne 2015
The sixth major will start a history of holding ESL One: Cologne at the Laxness-Arena in 2015. The CS:GO community will hold what was widely regarded as the finest major to date from August 20 to August 23.
It was the first CS:GO tournament to draw one million spectators at once, making ESL One: Cologne 2015 one of the most well-attended eSports competitions of the year. With fantastic production, incredible talent shows, and of course a fantastic location, it also established a new bar for subsequent events.
MLG Major Championship: Columbus 2016
Even though Counter-Strike was mostly popular in Europe, North America has always had a sizable fan base. The eighth major, which will be held in Columbus, Ohio from March 29 to April 3rd, will be Valve’s last major before it moves to North America. With one of the largest audiences to date, Columbus demonstrated to the organizers how fervently American Counter-Strike fans feel about the game.
ESL One: Cologne 2016
ESL One: Cologne 2016 was the second major of the year. Although ESL One: Cologne was held at this venue for the second time, this will be the third and last time that the competition was significant.
The audience, production, and broadcast talent were all excellent in the style of this event. The drama surrounding the games was undoubtedly at an all-time high as spectators witnessed the Brazilian team win their second consecutive major, the Astralis team from Denmark battle their way into the playoffs with two reserve teams, and a North American team with s1mple make it to the finals.
ELEAGUE Major Atlanta 2017
After running two incredibly popular and well-received leagues in 2016, ELEAGUE immediately rose to prominence as a major event producer. As a result, the organizer decided to conduct the 10th major in 2017 from January 22 to January 29 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia (USA).
This major had so many captivating narratives that the community scarcely managed to keep up. The most crucial was whether the Danes from Astralis could finally shake off their reputation as chokers, which they would do so spectacularly in the end.
ELEAGUE Major Boston 2018
It should come as no surprise that ELEAGUE received a second major in 2018, this time taking place in Boston from January 12 to 18. The major was the first to break the major circuit into three distinct stages, expanding the number of teams qualified to compete in a major to 24, and introducing a partially new major circuit concept.
This major began on a sorrowful one with a farewell to the fan-favorite Polish team Virtus. Pro, so to say that it was an emotional rollercoaster would be an understatement. As soon as Cloud9 defeated FaZe in what is widely regarded as the best CS:GO match of all time, the sadness swiftly gave way to joy as they won the first and only major in North America.
PGL Major Stockholm 2021
Live CS:GO competitions made a triumphant comeback during the 16th major sponsored by PGL in Stockholm, Sweden from October 26 to November 7, after nearly two years without majors due to the global pandemic. The prize money was increased from one million US dollars to two million US dollars to coincide with its return, however, this will be the last major with such a huge prize pool.
Since the town had been without it for so long, there was undoubtedly much greater enthusiasm for the major. Fortunately, the competition would produce all necessary outcomes, and to top it all off, Simple would finally take home his first major championship, solidifying his status as the best CS:GO player of all time.
PGL Major Antwerp 2022
Following a successful major in Stockholm, the PGL eagerly anticipated the following major, which would take place in Antwerp, Belgium, from May 9–22. This major had it all—a fantastic audience, a near-flawless lineup of performers, and plotlines that left supporters hardly able to control their enthusiasm. When FaZe defeated eventual major champion Natus Vincere to win the trophy, it was one of the most rewarding a huge victory ever. Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022
Brazilian CS:GO enthusiasts have established themselves as the most fervent and obsessive players in the world. Given this, it only made sense that the Major would be held in Brazil; as a result, ESL will hold the 18th Major in Rio de Janeiro from October 31 to November 13, 2022. However, this major will undoubtedly go down as one of the loudest majors ever, because of the unique spirit the Brazilian supporters brought to the tournament.
BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023
As the most recent major in CS:GO, BLAST was aware of the high expectations within the community and made every effort to live up to them. Since it was the final major of CS:GO, many public referred to it as the player’s or team’s final opportunity to win a major. In the end, Team Vitality won, ZywOo solidified his place in gaming history, Dupreeh concluded CS:GO as the player with the most victories, and Sphinx became the first Middle Eastern player to win a major.
