No one ever thinks or talks about how important office furniture is (or bus seats for that matter). But since we spend a great amount of time at work, we should give importance to it, shouldn’t we? I’ve come to notice that with most pieces of furniture larger focus is put on their visual appearance rather than on their comfortability. Sad but true. Unfortunately, our backs and bones don’t really care about beauty. So I think it’s time we paid more attention to the chairs we tend to sit on every single day. I mean, given how much time we spend in the office, it stands to reason that the furniture we use should be comfortable and high-quality, isn’t that so? Let me tell you why.

Comfort
Comfort should be top priority in the office. Note that this is no some kind of whim. If you don’t feel comfortable at work, you are less likely to be productive either. When your body is calm and relaxed, it’s easy to focus on the things you’re doing. It also helps put your mind at ease and increase creativity.
On the other hand, if the chair you’re sitting on all day long is too hard, your body might start hurting. The ideal seat should be able to support your spine adequately, otherwise it may lead to advanced wear and tear on the ligaments, discs and joint surfaces of the spine, as well as neck and shoulder pain. Which brings me to my next point, namely health.
Health
To some extent, comfort means health. Uncomfortable chairs may lead to incorrect posture of the body, which may result in numerous back problems. Looking down for too long, shoulders hunched forward, may cause over curved spine, a condition which people rarely notice until they start to feel pain.
When I was young, my spine was curved and I must tell you it’s not the best back feeling experience. Luckily, with the right exercise advice, my condition improved over time until one day the problem was gone. However, as the body grows old, it gets harder to overcome such situations. Harder but not impossible. And if you try to hold your back straight when sitting on a chair, you will keep this problem from occurring or getting worse. Remember that prevention is always better than cure. The first step is to ensure that your furniture is durable and comfortable. This will help you maintain good posture throughout the day.
Posture
As I explained above, a comfortable chair may improve posture. Which in turn will improve your health. See, posture is key to staying in good physical condition. And if you tend to forget about aligning your body to a straight line, a good chair can help you. But it’s not just about your chair. It is the main focus, however, there are other important pieces of furniture, such as your desk and sofa.
Space
It’s vital that there is enough space for a filing cabinet, phone, computer system and personal belongings. Not to mention, your work space should allow you to write information. Unless you have enough room to do your job, you will not be productive and efficient. This is why, it is also important that furniture provides enough space. Hence, desks should be big enough.
Productivity
At the end of the day, the average person wants to be productive and creative. I think that all of the factors I mentioned above will help improve productivity.
Last but not least, high-quality furniture gets dirty less often than poor quality furniture. Therefore, it is easy to clean and maintain for the years to come according to SparklingCarpets W6. I know it’s a little off topic, but since I’m talking about health in this thread, it’s important to mention cleanness as well. Buying the best office furniture will definitely improve your productivity and health, which is why you should give a thought to it.
